Olga Mikulášová – bobbin lace work
Bobbin lace is created by crossing and shifting the threads over, which are coiled on small wooden sticks; they make a lovely ringing noise during the work. The threads are stretched and pinned on pre-drawn pattern – we call it back wind and it is pinned on a roller- pillow. That is filled up with wooden shavings or hay. Finally, we also need a stand for fitting the pillow in, as well as a bit of patience and willingness to get to work.
Let us make magic together out of an old craft, which has definitely something to say to a contemporary person.
It will be my pleasure to give you my knowledge, to start you off for lace work passion, so that the beauty of the lace making tradition can bring as much joy also for the future generations as it brought for me.
